“Grounding ourselves in the present moment,” discussion and summary

In this discussion we considered several interesting topics: How and why should I consider my thoughts, emotions, and body to be impersonal? What are the three stages of progress that happen as we become mindful of delusional thoughts and their emotional disturbances? What is the difference between discernment and judgment, and how does knowing the difference allow me to be more at peace with the present moment? These and other subjects are covered in this discussion.

Four ways to be present meditation

Four ways to be present meditation

This is an insight meditation with four different anchors: sensations of breath, sensations of body, listening to silence, and seeing space. All of these anchors are ones that you can put some of your awareness in throughout your day to help keep you grounded in the present moment. This meditation allows you to explore each one.

Relax and release mindfulness meditation

Relax and release mindfulness meditation

This is an insight meditation with the anchor being the sensations of the body. It emphasizes having the courage to feel, love, and accept all feelings, be they pleasant, unpleasant, or neutral. By accepting them and seeing the good in them, we can experience them in a relaxed, calm, and objective manner. By experiencing emotions in a relaxed, calm, and objective manner, the emotions are able to freely move and be released from the body instead of becoming trapped emotional energy.
