Course Preparation for Mindfulness Fundamentals 3.0

Thank you for applying!

Here are things you can do to prepare yourself for the course. Please make sure to do all tasks marked in bold below. Estimated times to do certain activities are in parenthesis. You may be slower or faster than these estimates, but they are offered to help you manage your time. Enjoy!

1. Invite your friends and family to join you.

People often find it beneficial and supportive to take the course with one or more people they know. Consider who among your friends and family might also enjoy taking this course, and invite them to join you.

Here are some resources to help you invite them.

2. Get the following items and bring them with you to each class.

  • A dedicated notebook or journal for the course. Use this to take notes in, journal in, and do the journaling assignments.

  • Pen or pencil to write with.

  • A dedicated course folder to hold your journal and class handouts so you can keep everything together.

3. Download and print these handouts and slogan cards.

  • MF3.00 and MF3.01 handouts. This includes handouts to help with course preparations as well as the handouts for the first class. Please bring them all to your first class. Use the preparation checklist handout to keep track of which of these tasks you’ve completed. Keep the handouts and slogan cards in your course folder when not in use.

  • Slogan card. If able, print this on photo paper with color ink. Alternately, get creative and make your own using the same slogans.

4. Bookmark, or learn how to access, the Mindfulness Fundamentals 3.0 web page.

All of the resources needed for the course can be found on the Mindfulness Fundamentals 3.0 web page. Please click on the link and bookmark this page for your convenience. You will need to access it frequently during the course.

If you don’t know how to bookmark a page, you can access it by following these steps:

  1. Visit our website: BoundlessLoveProject.org or any page on our site.

  2. Click or hover over the “Trainings” tab in our main menu bar.

  3. Then select “Mindfulnesss Fundamentals 3.0” from the drop down menu.

5. Read: Tips for Attending Class (3 min)

These tips will help you get the most out of your time in class, whether you attend live via Zoom or by watching the class recording.

6. Read: Learn Common Zoom Skills & How to Format Your Name for Class* (9 min)

Even if you know how to do all of the Common Zoom Skills, learn how we want you to format your name please. Thanks!

7. Watch & Read: Six Meditation Postures to Explore (12 min)

Experiment with these different postures while doing the flashback-halting protocol or your course meditations to figure our which positions work best for you.

8. Practice Your Flashback-Halting Protocol (variable)

Until class starts, consider spending 5-10 minutes each morning practicing your flashback halting protocol. You can use the video guides on our advisory page, and reference the Flashback-Halting Protocol and 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Grounding Exercise handouts you printed out in step 3 above.

This is especially important to do if you have one or more risk-factors for experiencing flashbacks during meditation.

9. Read: Journaling for Personal Growth (7 min)

Journaling is a wonderful practice that helps you clarify your values, investigate your experience, process emotions, create plans, learn, grow, and more.

10. Read and Journal: Tips to Support Your Wellbeing and Manage Your Time (37-60 min)

This two-part article with two journaling activities will help you consider and implement healthier practices that will free up time and help you have more energy to invest in the course. It’s best to do one reading and journaling activity at a time.

11. Read: What is Community Heart Share? (8 min)

Learn about the purpose, benefits, agreements, and format of how our online Community Heart Shares wprl.
