The Prison of Your Mind by Sean Stephenson

Therapist Sean Stephenson gave this TEDx Talk to inmates at Ironwood State Prison. He let them know that freedom is a state of mind, and he invited them to love themselves and find freedom within these walls. His words are relevant to all of us who are imprisoned by our own minds.

Notes from the talk.

  1. Never believe a prediction that doesn’t empower you. Only listen to that which empowers.

  2. Everyone is rooting for you to win, even those that do not know it.

  3. Self-pity freezes your potential.

  4. You are not your condition.

  5. Adaption looks like celebration.

  6. You bring value to the human race, regardless of your situation.

  7. Choose to be strong.

  8. You are enough.

  9. Love all human beings regardless of what they’ve done.

  10. You cannot feel sorry for yourself or bully yourself. You have to love yourself.

  11. True freedom is dropping out of the thinking mind, and into your loving heart.
